Do You Feel Ugly?

So, we've already established that women are complex creatures by nature. Plagued with insecurities and other complex emotions. Not to mention the monthly hormonal influx is not helping us any further. To rub salt to our wounds, those picture-perfect cover girls on magazines can easily shred whatever little self esteem we have left.

Do you suffer from pangs of jealousy and feel overly competitive when you see an attractive woman on the street or when you're casually thumbing through your monthly favourite fashion magazine? Do you wish to be taller, have smoother skin, have glossier hair, have larger eyes and many more?Do you sometimes feel like you want to hibernate in your little shell for eternity just so you don't have to face another day feeling ugly and unworthy? Do you secretly wish to look like somebody else, to have a complete plastic surgery procedure from head to toe just to be perfect?

You know what? You're not alone. Insecurities are a common problem faced by many women, even supermodels and celebrities feel insecure at times. For example, beautiful supermodel Amber Valetta had therapy to re-acquaint with her self esteem again. Even supermodel Cindy Crawford commented that she doesn't wake up everyday feeling beautiful. Supermodels, like us, are also humans. We have our fair share of insecurities and emotions. So, don't be ashamed of yourself or to suffer your insecurities all alone.

You need to understand that each of us are unique in our own different ways, be it in size or color. Embrace your own unique self. I applaud women like Mo'Nique who embraces her ample figure, Sudanese supermodel Alek Wek who loves her skin color and ethnicity. Also, a big applause to ex-supermodel, host of American Next Top Model superbabe Tyra Banks on The Tyra Banks Show. Most of her shows are empowering women to accept themselves and to embrace womanhood with pride.

I too have my fair share of insecurities about myself, but it's ok, it's only human to have hookups about ourselves. But the most important thing is to pick yourself up after that grovelling period, to learn to love yourself and appreciate what you've been bestowed with. Be thankful for your achievements and for what you've done that contributes to others' well-being. Be proud that you're a filial daughter, a loyal friend, a loving girlfriend or wife, a tireless mother, a loveable grandmother or great grandmother. Be proud of who you are and at whichever stage of your life you're in. With confidence, your natural beauty shines through.

So, lift your chin up high and you're simply beautiful!!

How To Get Your Dream Job

In their book, Get What You Deserve! How to Guerilla Market Yourself, Levinson and Godin outline six steps to get the job you really want.

Position yourself. Write a positioning statement about yourself. Identify who you are and where you're going. Identify your customers. Identify the companies you want to work for and that honestly have what you are looking for. Don't go searching out non-profits as potential employers if you want unlimited earning potential. Similarly, don't focus on smaller companies if you want the prestige of working for a Fortune 500 company.

Prepare a non-resume and a plan. Prepare a guerilla non-resume, a word-of-mouth campaign and a marketing strategy that reflects your positioning and gets you an interview. A non-resume is no resume. Instead, use an effective cover letter that highlights how you can benefit the company. In addition, use powerful reference letters that specifically support your positioning statement

Give them a reason to hire you. Impress those that interview you so much that they'll do anything to hire you. Know their business and how you can contribute. Show them the benefits of making you their hiring choice. Maintain your momentum. Follow-through with a post-interview marketing campaign that maintains your momentum.

Don't stop once you've landed the job. Make sure that your actions live up to the expectations and then surpass them. Follow-up on everything you promised.
